This sugya continues to discuss various exemptions to
the Yichud prohibition.
This sugya discusses the “open door” exclusion – i.e. when there
is a door that is open to the public
We begin by analyzing the reasons behind this leniency. Is it because those inside can be seen by the
public and they are therefore by definition not secluded? Or does the knowledge that anyone can enter
the area serve as a deterrent, therefore permitting the yichud? The Poskim debate these two reasonings, with each
having its own Halachic ramifications.
